IAC
Center Benefits
"What
constitutes a family is different for everyone. One person
may choose to explore a variety of fertility solutions,
another may choose to adopt. Some may decide to remain
a couple without children or to be a single parent through
fertility or adoption options. Each family is unique." Joni S. Mantell, LCSW, Director of the Infertility and
Adoption Counseling Center |
Family
Building Options Exploration
Many of our clients seek counseling and psycho-education
to help them cope with the emotional, social and practical
issues related to their infertility treatment, failed
infertility treatment cycle, miscarriage or pregnancy
loss. Others come to us to discuss family alternatives
including additional infertility treatments, donor options,
adoption, surrogacy or the child-free family. Wherever
you are in your process, we’ll help you consider
the short-term, long-term, emotional and relationship
factors associated with each choice.
Long-term
Perspective
The decisions you make at the initial stage in your family
planning have long-term implications. The IAC Center helps
clients consider the long-term issues while they are in
an emotionally driven state.
Unbiased
Pre-Adoption Counseling
People are generally exhausted by the time they reach
adoption. The information available on the Internet and
through agencies and attorneys is both fascinating and
overwhelming. Since the IAC Center is not affiliated with
any particular adoption agency or attorney, we can help
you to explore your adoption options and to make timely
decisions that are right for you without any accompanying
marketing pitches.
Emotional
Support
We find that people whose lives have been touched by infertility
and adoption really appreciate the consideration of these
issues in the larger picture of their lives. Counseling
helps adoptive families differentiate general parenting
concerns from adoption-related issues, and helps adopted
individuals find the adoption layer in their more general
concerns. The IAC center understands that the journey
doesn't end when an adoption is legally finalized.
Client
Diversity
Our clients include infertile couples and singles; people
seeking alternative family-building options because of
medical or genetic diagnoses; singles and same-sex couples
desiring families; adoptive families and adopted individuals,
as well as birth parents. Our range and experience makes
us uniquely prepared to handle your needs.
