Children’s Life Book

This workshop is for children ages 6 – 10, and their parents. Children will create their own life books with the help of the therapist, their peers and parental help at home. This is different than any life book parents may have created for their child. This is the children’s chance to tell their own story and will give parents an idea of what they understand about being adopted now.

While the children meet with a child therapist, the parents meet with another therapist to learn more about the kinds of adoption and developmental issues that the children are dealing with at this life stage and will be guided in how to help their child with the life book.

Separate workshops will be held for families formed by international and domestic adoption since some of the issues are different for the children, and the kinds of background information available vary greatly.
